Corn Higher Thursday at 6:00 a.m. CDT

4/22/2021 | 5:59 AM CDT

DTN Staff Reporter

Corn: July corn closed up 14 1/2 cents on huge fund buying to a new contract high Wednesday as the drought in Brazil's safrinha corn area is expected to extend into the first week in May.

Soybeans: July soybeans again soared to another new contract high on fund buying, closing up 21 3/4 cents, with bean oil scoring a new high as well.

Wheat: July Chicago wheat closed 13 3/4 cents higher on the freeze warnings that may have damaged both hard and soft red winter wheat.

Cotton: July cotton futures closed up 1.06 cents Wednesday and for the second straight day, finished just slightly below the 50-day moving average.

Live Cattle: June live cattle futures plunged, closing lower for the eighth time in the past nine days, down $1.95, and under the 100-day moving average for the first time since November.
